Day 1: Sunday, 2nd of September 2007
I have been longing for months before I could eventually leave all the petty things holding me back in Luxembourg and go to where my desire pointed: Sicily, the land of my father.
I have been there for two weeks and now I must already leave because I have made a commitment I wasn’t able to undo. I have to make peace with my decision since the universe has started to help me stay…
That’s how I feel this morning. After a dreadful night, a glorious day is just emerging from my nightmares. I look straight in the low sun, I gather enough energy to leave and like a slug, I leave behind a long mark of sorrow.
I decide to open my heart to the day. On my way out from the boat, the very minute I set foot (wheels) on the continent, I see Fra Giovanni Maria on a side of the road; he is hitch-hiking barefoot in its Franciscan robe with a large bag on his shoulders. Our eyes meet but in disbelief. I stop. He goes to Naples. It is on my way.
The light enters my heart. It is so powerful, I need to sleep. In a glimpse, I see Fra Giovanni Maria on the commands of the Multipla, peacefully driving towards the North. I know now that I am blessed and despite all my misadventures, I am eternally grateful.
